The second Sunday of December saw the monthly SiCC & SLCC develop a very festive theme, with their annual end of the year Christmas party. In the words of one member of the group, “it was a Christmas party for the ages!!”
At the start of the meeting each member received a Christmas present in the form of custom SiCC & SLCC t-shirts that they can wear at events and meetings. The group were excited to receive their t-shirts, it’s something that they have been requesting for some time. Each t-shirt has a custom design for each member of the group and was produced in the colour of their choice.
The group then reflected on the past year, sharing the groups achievements that they are most proud of. They had a lot of achievements to choose from, their representation at interviews across the year, Kira’s work in youth mentoring, this year’s Annual Achievement Awards, MC-ing the Care Leavers Conference, work with Homes and Horizons, a BBC interview, collaboration on the Independent Reviewing Officer animation, as well as more personal achievements, to name just a few. The group also gave shout outs to Chloe and Kira for their excellent SiCC & SLCC representation at the recent Service Director interviews and at the Health & Wellbeing sub-group.
It was then time for the main event, Christmas dinner, with the whole group pitching in organising games, cooking and setting the table. Members of the group played some festive games and Ryan introduced us to the group’s new mascot Siccy Slccy – a pink shark!! The dinner was enjoyed by all, who ate lots, laughed more and chatted about their plans for the festive period. In fact they ate so much, most of them couldn’t manage desert!!!
The meeting finished with a round-up of plans for the group in 2026, some of the exciting projects that are in the pipeline and partners that they’ll be collaborating with.
Members of the group gave us these lovely comments:
“I think it was a Christmas party/sit down meal for the ages!! I think we should have a sit-down meal of some sort every month, so we can learn some independence and do what we did at Christmas.”
“I loved the Christmas Party, we shared some great memories that we’ve made this year. It was nice working in teams to help cook our food”
“As always, it’s been lovely to see everyone. It would be lovely to have more members and more getting to know you days/events”
“Beautiful day as always with some of my favourite people. It was a lovely way to celebrate Christmas and so lovely to have a meal together. I am sure that 2026 is going to be amazing!”
From all of us at SiCC & SLCC, whatever your faith or beliefs, we wish you happy holidays and all the very best for 2026.
