Somerset Leaving Care Council (SLCC)

Somerset Leaving Care Council (SLCC)

SLCC stands for Somerset Leaving Care Council – We are a group of young people who are 16+ who are about to leave care or have already left.

We meet to talk about the things that affect young people who are leaving care. We use our views and ideas to tell the managers who make decisions what we think works well in the care system and what could be better for us and other young people in and leaving care.

We get up to all sorts of things from interviewing professionals, attend their training days and meetings, we attend local and national events and have regular monthly meetings – we are there to talk about anything that you think is important. You can even join the SiCC and SLCC Creatives or Films crews, and help make films, animations, art, podcasts, poems and more.

SLCC has meetings with members of the Somerset in Care Council (SiCC) on the 2nd Sunday of every month, 11.00am – 3.30pm with lunch provided.

Have a think about things, perhaps talk to your Social Worker, they could contact us on your behalf if you would prefer. The contact for SLCC is our Participation Officer.

You can call or text on 07585 983 356, email somersetincarecouncils@somerset.gov.uk or fill in our Expression of Interest Form
