If you’re a young person living in Somerset you may find that being lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning your sexuality or gender identity can be exciting as you discover who you are, it can also be challenge or difficult. It’s also here to help parents, carers and children and young people’s workforce understand what is going on for LGBTQ+ young people.

CSW Group – #Focus5

Participation with the #Focus5 project is at a lower and individual level. All participants are fully involved in planning their programme with us, and all are encouraged to complete an evaluation of the project. We work with 15-18 year olds.

Healthwatch Somerset

Young Listeners – 11-24: To give young people in Somerset a voice to help shape the health and social care services they use.
Volunteering – all ages: To allow the people of Somerset to give feedback on the health and social care services they use, as well as listen to others and pass on their experiences to decision makers.

Redbrick Youth Club

Glastonbury Youth Council 11-19 year old’s. To support young people in the local community by running campaigns, events and creating opportunities for young people to be heard by
local change makers and stakeholders.
Red Brick Building Youth Club 10-19 year old’s To create opportunities for young people to express their views and concerns and help them access the support or contacts they need.

Somerset Diverse Communities (Community Council for Somerset)

Diverse Young Somerset – a group of young people (between 10 and 20 years old) conducting research within BAME communities in Somerset.

Somerset Diverse Communities have contact with BAME community groups that may offer other opportunities for young people and their families. SDC is also open to supporting young people from BAME communities in organising/delivering any projects.

Somerset Integrated Domestic Abuse Service – Via You First.

We work with children and young people from the ages of 5 upwards. We offer support on a 121 basis for children & young people who are victims of domestic abuse. We also support the parents/carers – both victim and person causing harm (if accepting of support to change their behaviour).

Somerset Youth Parliament

Somerset Youth Parliament works with decision makers, key community representatives and politicians to influence change, identify opportunities and better outcomes for children and young people across the county. Somerset Youth Parliament upholds the core values of democracy, fairness, respect and equality within everything it does.

The Space

We support children from 4-18 via our counselling service, youth club, out of term activities and providing direct support to schools in the Cheddar Valley area. Our Purpose is to protect the mental well-being of children and young people.

The Unstoppables

A group for young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities aged between 13-25 who want to have their voice heard and help to make changes to services that affect them.

Young people across Somerset are encouraged to scrutinise Somerset’s services through a youth-led forum, where topics affecting them are discussed, their views collected and their voices shared, this helps Somerset deliver safe services for young people and families.
