SiCC & SLCC enjoy a beach day at Lyme Regis

Members of the Somerset in Care and Leaving Care Council (SiCC & SLCC) enjoyed a beach day soaking in the sunshine (and getting soaked by a little bit of liquid sunshine) at Lyme Regis.

After the hustle and bustle of the work that members of SiCC & SLCC have put in towards preparing and working at Celebrating Care and Achievement, their monthly meetings, art days, trips to the RSPCA and Getting to Know You Days, they deserved a treat. So, with thanks to transport funded by a Staying Close Travel Bursary it was decided that a trip to the beach was in order.

The group were picked up in the morning by a minibus or driven in by one of the Engagement and Participation team’s officers and made their way to Lyme Regis. When the group arrived they took a stroll across the promenade, taking in the sites of the seaside.

After months of extreme heat everyone was relieved that the beach day was going to be on a slightly milder – but still hot and sunny – day. There were a couple of rain showers while the group enjoyed their chips, but they all agreed that the rain added to the adventure of the day.

After lunch some of the group took a look around the shops and later others played some of the games at the arcade. The trip culminated with a delicious ice cream or slushy, the perfect end to a wonderful day.

One of the members of SiCC & SLCC said “Thank you for an absolutely incredible day!!”
