November is National Care Leaver’s Month, an annual celebration of care leavers across the country. This year’s theme is: “Rising as Me: Overcoming challenges, transforming & finding your identity”.
Recently members of the Somerset in Care Council and Somerset Leaving Care Council (SiCC and SLCC) met up to discuss how best to acknowledge and celebrate care leavers during the month.
The group believe that care leavers should be recognised and celebrated throughout the year and that “any small thing is a victory”. The group considered how “identity is so personal” and the challenges of “staying on the right path.”
SiCC SLCC would love to hear from Somerset’s care leavers and the practitioners that support them, in celebration of your personal achievements and what you are proud of.
